Latest updates:

  • After holding a very successful mini festival last year as part of the Oxjam house concert initiative, we decided to hold another one this summer.

This time we had 10 musical acts including 4 bands, 1 choir and various other individuals, duets and a trio.

Over 80 people attended the event and we had a brilliant time listening to a wide variety of music in the garden on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

Lots of people donated cakes, and we held a raffle, which along with donations, raised an incredible £550!

What an enjoyable way to raise money for such a worthwhile cause.

A massive ‘Thankyou’ to all those that came along and supported the festival, and to all the musical acts:

Lost Highways, Shenanigans, Shiftin’ Sands, Red Puppets, The Rock ‘n’ Soul Singers, Mark Winfield, Alan & James Shepherd, Kath Heap and Rosina Reading.

  • On August 12th we held a concert in our garden in Newthorpe.

Shiftin’ Sands were our headline band, from the Oxjam Artist list.

We also persuaded a number of other musicians and singers to join the line-up, giving us a total of 7 different acts.

Due to the weather forecast being unpredictable we erected a number of gazebos and found enough seats for the 50 people that attended.

We provided food and drink, and with several people donating cakes, we managed to raise £300.

The afternoon was a wonderful experience, we had so many comments and e-mails from those that attended and performed, saying how much they had enjoyed the event.

Many thanks to Shiftin’ Sands and all our other acts for making the event so enjoyable.

If you like music, I would thoroughly recommend the Oxjam initiative, as it is a great way to raise money with family and friends.
